We had a doozy of a storm at the beginning in the week, causing us to lose the better part of a day as there was no hydro at the house. The bigger tree directly at the front of the house was knocked over in the storm, and ripped right out at the roots. It has now been discarded but was quite the mess at first site. A little help with the landscaping courtesy of mother nature, gotta love free labour!
Now the the house is a blank canvas, which makes the vision a little easier to see, believe it or not. Some of our original thoughts and plans have been tweaked a bit, as we’re sure will happen daily as we go. We also had the pleasure of meeting alot of the neighbours, who are very excited about the eyesore as it was, being fixed up, and are anxious to see the end result. Thanks also to them for helping with the tree!
Most of this week was spent concentrating on the basement, removing all the old rock and cement to make room for the new. MANY, MANY bags of concrete were mixed and poured to create a good, solid foundation. The best way to work is from the ground up!!

The idea to flip a house was always tossed around as a “what if” and “maybe some day” discussion. We really liked the challenge of applying all our skills and talents into a really big job, but it seemed like quite the daunting task. But after looking around at what is out there, and reviewing finance options, we realized it could, maybe, possibly be a reality. Teaming up with a local real estate agent, we began our search for the perfect house in need of our help and in the blink of an eye here we are! This house was presented to us as a suggestion(”needs TLC” was the understatement of the century….), and we REALLY needed to use our imagination, but we believe there is alot of potential here. The house leaves ALOT to be desired in it’s current state, but as every mom says, “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover”. What we see is the skeleton of a beautiful home, placed on an amazing lot, and we hope that once all is said and done, you too, will share our vision. This is our biggest project to date, and we are so excited to take it on. We currently have 2 other jobs in progress, with a few more scheduled to begin shortly, and we always welcome more work so keep it coming!!
We will update regularly, with progress photos and trials and tribulations as we turn our beast into a beauty!! For now, click here to see pictures from day one!
